RCW is
a small, community-based agency that serves any woman in
Pinellas County over age 18, primarily single moms or
women who are head of their household with dependent
children or a disabled spouse in their care.
Over 20,000 women have completed RCW programs since
1977. For every woman helped, two others, usually
children, benefit.
“When my husband left I was
lost. I didn’t know where to start. I was depressed,
needed a job and was losing control of my children. At
the Resource Center for Women, I found people who
wanted to help me get back on my feet. I now feel
better about myself and the challenges I’m facing.” ,
says Karen P., a client of the Resource Center for
Women.
Karen
is one example of a woman in transition receiving
support, education and hope at our Center. We all know
a woman in transition, whether a mother, a daughter, a
sister, an aunt, a niece, a grandchild or a friend.
Women enter RCW’s doors every day looking for support as
they face transitions in their career, their marriage,
their financial situation and their parenting
responsibilities. “The Resource Center for Women is a
place where women can feel comfortable facing the
reality of their situation and getting the skills they
need to help them get back on their feet.”, says Susan
Olsen, Executive Director.
RCW is
funded by Juvenile Welfare Board, Schoen Foundation,
Ameriprise Financial Company, Pinellas County Community
Foundation, corporate and individual donors. “The
success of the Dream Auction will enable the Center to
continue the quality of programs and services, as well
as expand to serve more women in Pinellas county.”, says
Bob Berman, President of the Board of Directors. |
